Graphic Designer / Creative Artworker - Nottinghamshire, UK

Full time, permanent, Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

Salary: £20-30K depending on skills & experience.

An exciting opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic individual looking for a varied graphic design or creative artworking role in both digital and print.

A family-run business since 1902, ROMO requires a highly organised & versatile graphic designer / artworker to join the in-house marketing team based at our head-office in Nottinghamshire. Working as part of a team across our 6 fabric & wallcovering brands, you will create innovative design solutions for both print & digital media to support each new fabric launch.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong creative flair, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to problem solve & creatively present your ideas, developing them through from concept to finished article.

Main Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Creative Marketing Director and working closely with our in-house design studios and existing marketing team, your role will be to help create and maintain the visual identities of our brands, working on a wide variety of design tasks that include:

· Creative marketing - working across a range of disciplines to create concepts, design solutions & layouts for both digital and printed promotional material including luxury product brochures, press releases, marketing collateral for shows & events, launch concepts, point of sale, digital presentations, slideshows & social media posts. A good knowledge of print is highly advantageous.

· Email & website design – creative design & layout of adhoc & scheduled email campaigns, website homepages, landing pages or complete refreshes. Your designs will be realised by our in-house web developers.

· Artworking – creating and artworking files for various print & digital projects, including typesetting information tables, producing artwork for visual merchandising items, stationery, pricelists and catalogues and providing print-ready files. Executing rigorous quality checks including spell checking & proofreading - we are an international company so artwork will need to be formatted in a number of languages, requiring a keen and methodical eye for detail.

Skills and Experience:

· Graphic Design BA (Hons) graduate.

· Minimum 2-3 years agency / in-house experience in all areas of graphic design & artworking.

· Excellent skills & expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

· Creative flair, originality and strong visual sense.

· Accurate artwork skills with relevant experience of preparing artwork for print.

· Meticulous attention to detail & a high-level of accuracy.

· Very good written & spoken English. Other language skills helpful but not essential.

· Excellent time management and organisational skills with ability to multi-task in high-pressured environment, working to challenging deadlines.

· Good team-working skills with ability to show initiative.

· Professional colour retouching skills & experience would be a bonus.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assisting customers with their selection of products for use in interior schemes, taking an active approach to understand their needs and requirements
  • Being knowledgeable and familiar with products, being able to offer an effective and accurate answer to customer questions
  • Forming and maintaining relationships with clients
  • Support with the day to day running of the Showroom, ensuring it is well presented at all times
  • Preparing sample packs for customers
  • Working in collaboration with colleagues to manage and update the sample library on a daily basis
  • Supporting telephone and email enquires

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills, with outstanding English language, written and spoken
  • A strong eye for colour and design
  • Be highly organised and able to prioritise
  • Good attention for detail

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Textile Designer in a commercial setting.
  • A high achieving degree in Textile Design or similar qualification.
  • Be a dedicated, passionate and industrious designer with an aspirational taste level to meet the complexity of this role.
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of the commercial fabric printing and production process including digital, rotary and flat bed.
  • A strong knowledge and previous experience of CAD.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work closely with all members of the design team and with other relevant departments.
  • Be flexible and practical with task management and with an ability to work under pressure and within time scales.
  • Exceptional organisation skills.
  • A sound understanding of Intellectual Property rights and all aspects of copyright related to design.
